WHAT IS FRAXEL?

You can “fight back aging” and sun damage and make your skin look significantly younger with the use of Fraxel treatments. Fraxel treatments are “non-ablative” (or milder) laser treatments that will help reduce the fine lines and wrinkles on your face, neck, chest, arms, and other areas of the body. These treatments also work well for the “crepiness”, or fine lines of the skin of the lower eyelids and of the hands. This “fractional” milder laser can resurface your skin and boost collagen production to help your skin look tighter, smoother, and more evenly toned. Using a series of treatments, this laser can help minimize “laugh lines” and “crow’s feet” lines, and also help with age spots, acne, and even some surgical scarring. This laser can also allow you to follow your daily routine without the downtime of more aggressive lasers.

WHAT CAN FRAXEL TREAT?

Fraxel is a great option for patients who wish to treat visible signs of aging, sun damage, or other types of damage on the skin. Some examples include fine lines and wrinkles such as crow’s feet, surface scars such as acne scars, excess pigmentation such as age spots, visible sun damage, and sun spots, or actinic keratosis (AK).

WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR FRAXEL?

Unlike other laser treatment options, Fraxel is suitable for patients of all skin types and tones. The laser treatments can be performed on patients of all ages and is suitable for the face, neck, chest, and hands.

HOW DOES FRAXEL WORK?

We at the ARTIS Institute for Plastic Surgery in Aventura are happy and proud to have the very latest Fraxel laser technology, the Fraxel Dual Apparatus. This “state of the art” Fraxel machine features the already popular Fraxel 1550 resurfacing capabilities, and then also adds an additional 1927 wavelength. This additional 1927 wavelength specifically targets pigment problems such as age or sun-related spots, melisma, and many other types of abnormal pigmentation. Frequently, in just one short treatment you will see a significant improvement in the color, tone, and appearance of the skin on your face, neck, chest, arms, and hands.

In addition, this laser may be used to treat precancerous lesions in the skin (actinic keratosis). It also works extremely well for acne scarring treatment by resurfacing the skin. In just a few treatments 4-6 weeks apart you will really see a difference in the quality and texture of your skin.

FRAXEL RESULTS

Some Fraxel results are immediately visible, with patients noticing rejuvenated, tighter, and more even skin shortly after their first treatment. However, these results will also gradually improve over time. Thanks to integrated cooling technology, patients will experience minimal downtime and visible side effects after their Fraxel treatments. Most patients see the best results about one to three months after their Fraxel treatment. It is important to continue wearing SPF 30+ for at least three months after the procedure.
