People notice our eyes almost as soon as they notice our smile. The upper face constantly sends nonverbal signals, and the position of the brows and forehead can make us look rested and open, or tired, worried, or frustrated, even when we don’t feel that way.
With age, the muscles between the brows (the corrugators) can become more prominent and form the vertical frown lines often called the “11s.” These muscles work with others to pull the forehead and brows downward. To compensate, the forehead muscles lift upward, which leaves horizontal lines across the forehead. Over time, volume loss, thinning skin, and gravity add to the effect. The result is heavy or drooping brows, a creased forehead, and an overall look of fatigue. Similar changes in the midface lead to flattened cheeks, hollowness beneath the eyes, and deepening folds between the nose and mouth.
At The ARTIS Institute for Plastic Surgery, our surgeons use advanced brow lift and endoscopic facelift techniques to restore a refreshed, natural appearance so your face reflects how you actually feel.

What Is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift, sometimes called brow rejuvenation or a forehead lift, repositions a low or sagging brow to a more youthful, balanced height. By raising and reshaping the brow, the procedure can soften forehead lines and frown lines, reduce heaviness above the eyes, and create a more open, alert look.
Our surgeons tailor each brow lift to the patient’s anatomy, brow shape, and goals. The aim is always a natural result that preserves normal brow movement and expression, never a surprised or overdone look.
The Brow Lift Procedure
Our surgeons choose the brow lift technique that best fits each patient’s anatomy and goals. Incisions are placed in discreet locations, often within the hairline, so they heal well and become difficult to notice (sometimes undetectable) over time. We use an endoscope to allow us to have full visualization of the anatomy to perform safe dissection and tissue management. Through these incisions, the surgeon releases and repositions the tissues and muscles that pull the brow downward, then secures the brow at a more youthful height. Adjusting the muscles responsible for frown lines also helps the forehead look smoother and more relaxed.
Who Is a Good Candidate for a Brow Lift?
A brow lift may be a good fit if you have:
- Brows that sit low, are flat or droop, especially at the outer edges
- Deep horizontal forehead lines or frown lines between the brows
- A heavy or hooded look above the eyes caused by brow position
- A tired, angry, stern or worried expression even when you feel relaxed
Brow rejuvenation isn’t limited to one age group. Some younger patients have naturally low brows, while others seek treatment later in life to restore a more refreshed look. During your consultation, our surgeons will evaluate your brow position, forehead anatomy, and skin quality to recommend the right approach.
Brow Lift Recovery
At the ARTIS Institute Recovery is pivotal to our success. Dr. Sarraga has created the HEALiotherapy protocol for advanced surgical recovery that centers around the 5 pillars of recovery with you in the center. Because there are multiple ways to perform a brow lift, your individual recovery may also depend on the technique used and your healing. Some swelling and bruising around the forehead and eyes is normal and gradually improves over the first week or two. Keeping your head elevated helps control swelling, and our team may recommend supplements to support healing. Your surgeon will give you a personalized timeline for returning to work and normal activities.
Endoscopic Facelift
An endoscopic facelift is a minimal-incision approach to rejuvenating the midface, the area of the cheeks and the region beneath the eyes. With age, the cheek tissues descend, leading to flattened cheekbones, hollowness under the eyes, and deepening folds between the nose and mouth. An endoscopic facelift lifts these tissues back to a more youthful position.
Rather than using the longer incisions of a traditional facelift, our surgeons work through a few small incisions hidden within the hairline. A thin camera called an endoscope provides a magnified view of the underlying structures, allowing the surgeon to precisely release and reposition the deeper tissues of the midface. Because the lift comes from beneath the surface instead of from pulling the skin, results look natural and refreshed rather than tight or “done.” A brow lift is typically recommended at the same time to perform a balanced repositioning.
Who Is a Good Candidate for an Endoscopic Facelift?
An endoscopic facelift is often a good fit for patients who have:
- Early to moderate sagging in the cheeks and midface
- Flattened or descended cheek volume
- Deepening folds between the nose and mouth
- Good skin elasticity without significant excess skin
Patients with more advanced laxity in the lower face, jowls, or neck may benefit from a different facelift technique. During your consultation, our surgeons will evaluate your facial structure and skin quality to recommend the approach that will give you the best result.
Endoscopic Facelift Recovery
Because the incisions are small, recovery after an endoscopic facelift is often shorter than after a traditional facelift. Swelling and bruising are normal and gradually improve over the first couple of weeks. Keeping your head elevated and avoiding strenuous activity during early healing helps control swelling. Final results continue to refine over the following months as the tissues settle. Your surgeon will give you a personalized recovery timeline during your consultation.

Combining a Brow Lift and Endoscopic Facelift
Aging rarely affects just one area of the face, so many patients choose to combine a brow lift with an endoscopic facelift. Together, the two procedures rejuvenate the upper face and midface in one surgery, lifting heavy brows while restoring youthful fullness to the cheeks. Because both procedures can be performed through small incisions in the hairline, the combination creates a balanced, natural-looking result with a single recovery period. Many times we will recommend adjunct procedures (fat grafting and laser resurfacing) to balance and harmonize your final result. Our surgeons will help you decide whether a combined approach is right for your goals.

Brow Lift Frequently Asked Questions
Can brow rejuvenation help improve upper eyelid heaviness?
A lowered brow can contribute to excess skin and heaviness along the upper eyelids. Elevating and repositioning the brow can create a more open appearance to the eyes and reduce the tired look that often develops over time.
What types of brow rejuvenation treatments are available?
Both surgical and non-surgical options may be used to rejuvenate the brow area. Treatments can range from brow lift procedures to injectable treatments that soften lines and subtly elevate the brow.
Will brow rejuvenation leave visible scars?
Surgical brow lift techniques are designed to place incisions in discreet locations, often within the hairline or natural skin creases. Over time, these incisions typically heal well and become difficult to notice.
How long do brow rejuvenation results typically last?
The longevity of results depends on the specific treatment performed and individual factors such as skin quality and lifestyle. Surgical brow lifts can provide long-lasting improvement, while non-surgical treatments may require maintenance over time.
Is brow rejuvenation only for older patients?
Brow rejuvenation is not limited to a specific age group. Some younger patients seek treatment to address naturally low brows or early signs of aging, while others pursue it later in life to restore a more refreshed appearance.
Can brow rejuvenation improve forehead wrinkles?
Many brow rejuvenation treatments help soften horizontal forehead lines and frown lines between the eyebrows. By adjusting brow position or relaxing certain muscles, the forehead can appear smoother and more relaxed.
How long does recovery take after a brow rejuvenation procedure?
Recovery time varies depending on the type of treatment performed. Non-surgical options generally involve minimal downtime, while surgical procedures may require a short healing period before normal activities are resumed.
Will brow rejuvenation make my eyebrows look too high or unnatural?
Modern techniques focus on creating natural-looking results that complement your facial features. Careful planning and conservative adjustments help maintain normal brow movement and expression.
What concerns can brow rejuvenation address?
Brow rejuvenation can improve drooping brows, forehead lines, frown lines, and a tired or heavy upper facial appearance. The goal is to restore balance and create a refreshed look.
How do providers determine the best brow rejuvenation approach?
During a consultation, providers evaluate brow position, forehead anatomy, skin elasticity, and overall facial proportions. This assessment helps guide a personalized treatment plan that aligns with each patient’s goals.
