WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR DYSPORT?
Most adults who notice dynamic wrinkles, such as glabellar lines, crow’s feet, or horizontal forehead lines, are good candidates for Dysport. This can include patients who have previously tried other neuromodulators but were dissatisfied with the results. In addition to those who already see lines and wrinkles, neuromodulators like Dysport can be used to prevent lines from forming or to prevent existing lines from worsening. Patients with signs of aging outside of dynamic wrinkles, including wrinkles caused by volume loss, may be better suited to other injectables such as dermal fillers. Often, a combination of treatments is recommended to complement your Dysport results. Some health conditions or allergies, especially allergies to ingredients found in Dysport, may disqualify you from safely undergoing the treatment. During a consultation, Dr. Sárraga will review your health history to ensure that Dysport is a suitable option. He will make a recommendation for a personalized treatment plan that will yield the results you are looking for.
THE DYSPORT TREATMENT
Dysport treatments can be completed comfortably and quickly in our Aventura office. Often, patients can receive their injections immediately following their consultation. Before your Dysport treatment, a topical anesthetic can be applied to assure you experience a comfortable treatment. The injection site will also be thoroughly cleansed to prevent infection or other complications. Dysport will then be injected into the muscles using a small needle to temporarily inhibit them from contracting. Commonly 3-5 injections are needed to treat lines between the eyebrows, also known as glabellar lines. Treatment is quick, often only lasting 15 minutes to complete. Immediately following Dysport treatment, patients are free to return to their normal routines.

DYSPORT RECOVERY
After Dysport treatment, patients may experience mild swelling or redness in the injection areas. These side effects are minor and typically resolve within a few hours. There is little to no downtime required, so patients can often return to their routines directly after treatment. However, it is best to avoid strenuous activity such as exercise, drinking alcohol, or applying any pressure to the injection sites, as these can increase risk of bruising or bleeding. In addition, patients should avoid direct sun exposure, applying SPF as directed by Dr. Sárraga when necessary.
Results can last up to four months, and sometimes longer. These results are not immediately noticeable, with most patients seeing changes beginning within a few days. Final Dysport results are usually seen about a week or two after receiving injections. After Dysport results subside, you may receive routine maintenance injections to keep up your new, youthful appearance.
