Who Is a Good Candidate for Otoplasty?
Patients who feel self-conscious about prominent or asymmetrical ears are ideal candidates for ear surgery. Ideal candidates should be in good overall health, have realistic expectations, and want to address the appearance of their ears rather than functional concerns. Otoplasty can be performed on both adults and children over the age of five once ear development is complete.

Following otoplasty, patients can expect mild swelling, bruising, and tenderness around the ears, which typically improves over the first one to two weeks. A protective headband is worn initially to support healing and maintain the new ear position. As swelling subsides, the ears gradually settle into place. Most patients return to non-strenuous activities within a few days, with full recovery progressing over several weeks.
