WHAT IS JUVÉDERM VOLUMA?
Juvéderm Voluma is the first and only FDA-approved filler created to correct loss of volume in the mid-face and cheek region. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA CANDIDATES
Individuals over the age of 21 who are experiencing sagging or flattened skin in the mid-face area can often benefit from Juvéderm Voluma. Those with known severe allergies or allergies to the proteins that make up hyaluronic acid should not receive these injections. Also, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding should discuss this with Dr. Sarraga during a consultation, since the safety of Juvéderm products has not been studied in these instances. Finally, patients should not take certain medications or supplements such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and St. John’s wort or who smoke should refrain from doing so before and after their Juvéderm Voluma injections.
Juvéderm Voluma is intended for restoring volume to the cheek area or, in some cases, augmenting the chin. Patients who are interested in addressing signs of aging in other areas, such as lines and wrinkles near the nose and mouth, undereye volume loss, or wrinkles near the eyes and forehead may benefit from other injectable options. Dr. Sárraga can discuss all of your options, including the various formulas of Juvéderm, during a consultation. In many cases, he may recommend a combination of treatments to achieve your goal results and create an overall youthful appearance.
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA RESULTS
Following Juvéderm Voluma injections, there is no downtime needed, making this a great treatment option for those on the go. The most common side effects include mild swelling, bruising, pain, and firmness at the injection site. However, these symptoms should be temporary and resolve quickly. To prevent unnecessary side effects including excessive bruising or bleeding, Dr. Sárraga will recommend that you avoid exercise, blood-thinning medication, drinking alcohol, or applying pressure to the area for at least 24 hours after receiving your injections. While some swelling is initially noticeable, Juvéderm Voluma results can be seen immediately after injections. Most patients find that their Juvéderm Voluma “settles,” or binds with water for a more natural appearance, within just a few days after receiving their injections.
Results will be immediate, and results are known to last up to two years. Over time, the body will naturally and safely break down and metabolize the hyaluronic acid within Juvéderm Voluma, which is why results are not permanent. However, routine maintenance injections can be scheduled to keep up your new appearance. Some patients have maintenance injections as often as every 3-4 months for small touch-ups. Patients who are looking for more permanent results than Juvéderm Voluma can provide may consider other treatment options such as fat grafting or chin implants.
